Pensacola, FL - May 11, 2022 - Members First Credit Union of FL gifted $140,000 to the University of West Florida to support various University initiatives. A check presentation was held on May 10 at the UWF’s College of Business.
"MFCU's dedication to supporting students and the community through UWF's programs is admirable," said Howard Reddy, Vice President for University Advancement. "This investment will strengthen many valuable initiatives at UWF, and we are thankful for this partnership."
The five-year pledge will support the Louis A. Maygarden Center for Financial Literacy Credit Counseling Program and the Women in Leadership Conference in UWF's College of Business. The Center, established in February 2018, provides counseling services and educational seminars to students and the public with the goal of enhancing the financial literacy of the citizens of Northwest Florida. The counseling is free and open to all individuals in the community. Held annually in spring, UWF's Women in Leadership Conference offers over 400 attendees the opportunity to connect with prominent women leaders who have achieved both personal and professional success.
"Members First is proud to continue to partner with the University of West Florida," said Caryl Greene, President and CEO of Members First Credit Union of Florida. "This type of focused giving allows us the opportunity to provide lasting improvements locally and touch the lives of those we serve."
The gift will also support the Argo Dollar initiative, UWF's Employee Recognition and Awards Program and the UWF Alumni Association. The Argo Dollar Initiative, launched last year, provides each graduate with a dollar to make their first gift to the University at Commencement. The dollar signifies that all gifts, no matter the size, are important to the University. For more information about Members First, and how we support our community, visit mfcufl.org/community.
